KYRGYZSTAN

Kyrgyzstan is a country on the Asian continent. This nation is located in the centre of that continent. This country borders Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The country is very cold in winter and hot in summer. This nation does not have a coastline.

Most of the land of Kyrgyzstan is steppe. That means flat grassland. These prairies are not suitable for arable farming. For millennia the Kyrgyz people were itinerants. They traveled with herds of horses seeking fresh pasture and the dwelt in tents. The people started to speak the Kyrgyz language. This is a Turkic tongue.

This country has been part of various empires. They were ruled by the Mongols for some time. Islam was introduced here in the Middle Ages. Kyrgyz was written in the Arabic alphabet.

In the 19th century this land was conquered by the Russians. The country became part of the Russian Empire. A railway was then constructed in Kyrgyzstan. The Russians brought their language. They also insisted that the people write their language in Cyrillic letters.

In 1917 the Russian Revolution took place. This led to the introduction of communism. In 1922 the Soviet Union was established. Kyrgyzstan then included Kazakhstan. Only in 1936 was Kazakhstan separated from Kyrgyzstan. Ironically, Kazakhstan is far larger than Kyrgyzstan. The Soviet Government forbade nomadism in the 1930s. People were forced to settle. This sort of agriculture failed and led to a famine. Hundreds of thousands of people died of hunger.

In 1991 the USSR broke up. Kyrgyzstan became independent. The Russian language has declined there since then. Most ethnic Russians left the country. Kyrgyz is the only official language.

The capital city is Bishkek. Bishkek means a bottle that is used for carrying mare’s milk.

The Flag of Kyrgyzstan is red and yellow. The field is red. There is a yellow disc symbol and pattern in the centre. This is the nodal point of a tent. That is what the emblem represents.

This country is democratic. One woman has been president.

Why is the PC brigade so het up about gender balance?

Standard

The PC lot say that gender does not matter – that there are no gender differences. WHy then care if it is mostly men or mostly women in particular occupations?

It is if they think genders do not exist. They insist that people can transition from man to woman or vice versa at will. So why should anyone give two hoots if an occupation is mostly male or female. Is it bad that 90 per cent of nurses are women? I think not. COuld it be that more women want to do it and more women are best at this? Why is it impossible that more men want to be engineers or have an aptitude for it?

photo hunt

Standard

So he’s saying his name, PHOTO HUNTING is a hunt. But because we love the birds in the Danube Delta, we do not hunt with rifles and we aim at our prey with …  cameras! We share teams, each with a boat and a room, then we go to the wild.

==============

We ignore prohibitions and other legal issues, we really push the boat and try to spot all the birds on our list. Each team chooses their own route and in an alloted time, they need to photograph as many bird species as possible. After we come back from the mock hunting expedition, our colleagues will handle the “catch”: they will edit the best pictures and by dinner, the montage will be ready.

====================================

We will make an exhibition of the best pictures and then we will announce the winners. The trainers are the judges of the photo competition. We will count how many bird species you “hunted” and how many you identified. You will vote for the best pictures and how it is good for a vernissage. Then we will award you a glass of champagne.

Cine vrea sa fie Sherlock pentru o zi?

Who wants to be Sherlock for one day?

=====================

Each team is divided into groups , each one has twenty minutes, a list of various tasks each of which much be completed in a particular time slot.

At the end their performance will be graded on they achieved. They will be awarded points and placed in a class accordingly.

=======================

This programme assumes that you can get around a particular place and that locality, the ability to find your bearings, creativity and spontaneity. The resources in fact reflect the abilities of the participants. The Hunt – identify the clues, then it becomes possible to complete the tasks that have been set. You must prove your qualities. Many of them are needed for each category. There are problems that test your perspicacity and your creativity. All of these combine with clues in the deployment zone.

The program has an fast pace, necessitated by the short time allowed and the surprising combination of tasks. Participants are encouraged to communicate effectively, act quickly and have fun!
