Make the most of the weak pound.

The pound sterling has fallen considerably in value since the Brexit vote. Sterling’s loss of value is in some respects to be welcomed. The pound has been overvalued for a few years. About 9 years ago it reached the heady heights of $2. This made it very costly for tourists to come to the United Kingdom. British exports were also very pricey.

The pound has returned to a more sensible level. British exports and property are much more affordable. It is a superb time to come and visit the UK. British people should be patriotic and take holidays at home. This way they will also makes the most of their money. Foreigners should come to the British kingdom now to get value before the pound rises anew.

Theresa May ought to use this opportunity to maximum advantage. She should organise advertisements to be broadcast in other countries encouraging people to come to the UK as tourists. Famous British people could be enlisted to appear in these adverts for free. It is free publicity for them. These could be renowned politicians such as Blair and Cameron. Those who speak in these ads could also be stars such as Eddie Redmayne and Adele.

The drop in the pound has hurt me personally. I earn sterling and spend abroad. The reduction in the purchasing power of the pound has not been as precipitous as some claim. People forget just how stable the sterling has been for centuries. Yes, its value has gone up and down but never dramatically.
