This is about working time directive

The UK dept of trade and industry sayd that employers have to see that workers CAN takke their rest but not thst they DO take their rest. ths was official advice

This related to thr working time directive 1998.

sometimes working time was unmeasured

ECJ said the UK had advovated a breach of the direvrive article 4

there is a duty to see that the work break is observed. what Her Majesty;s Government had done was tantamount to encouraging bosses’ to deny their employees real rest

A 1999 amendment was against artcile 17

the United Kingdom has since back pedalled.
